What equipment will I need to play pickleball?

To play pickleball, you will need:

  •  Court shoes
  • Loose, comfortable clothing such as shorts or sweats
  • A pickleball paddle
  • A pickleball
  • That’s it!

As we mention in the video, if you don’t have a pickleball paddle or ball, you can often borrow an extra from other players. Pickleballers are a friendly group who like to get others into the sport, and they generally will be happy to share equipment with a newbie! You can also easily purchase pickleball paddles and balls from your local sporting goods store.

What are the rules for pickleball?

Here is a great summary of basic pickleball rules. However, when playing pickleball for the first time, we recommend not taking the rules too seriously–just go out, whack the ball around, and have some fun!
