The Most Common Pickleball Injuries

Pickleball is an exciting sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. It is believed to have been invented in 1965 by three dads who wanted to create a game their children could play on the family’s badminton court.

Playing pickleball offers numerous health benefits as it requires agility, coordination, balance, and strength. Regularly playing pickleball can help improve cardiovascular health and mobility while also helping with weight loss.

The low-impact nature of the game makes it easier on joints than other racquet sports like tennis or squash. Additionally, due to its popularity amongst older players, pickleball can be a great way to socialize with people of similar ages and interests.

Pickleball is an incredibly fun and rewarding sport that offers numerous health benefits. Whether you’re looking for a way to stay in shape or just trying to find a new hobby, pickleball is definitely worth considering. Get out there on the court today!

Warm-ups, Cool-downs, and Proper Technique Are Vital To Staying On the Court

Pickleball is a great way to stay active, have fun and keep your body healthy. However, as with any physical activity, there are inherent risks that come along with playing the game. Without the proper preparation and technique, pickleball can lead to serious injury or even chronic pain.

It’s important to warm up before each game of pickleball by doing some light stretching and aerobic exercises such as jogging or jumping rope for five minutes. This will help your body become accustomed to the movements involved in pickleball and reduce the chances of straining your muscles. Additionally, make sure you are wearing appropriate footwear and clothing – supportive shoes designed specifically for court sports provide extra cushioning against hard surfaces and impact activities like pickleball.

After the game, it is important to cool down with stretching and light exercise for a few minutes in order to reduce stress on your muscles and joints. This process will help you avoid soreness or injury the next day. Additionally, make sure you stay hydrated throughout your play session as dehydration can lead to fatigue or muscle cramps that can hinder your performance and increase your risk of injury.

Finally, when playing pickleball, keep good posture and technique in mind at all times. Keeping your feet planted firmly on the ground will provide extra stability and reduce any strain on your knee joints. Also, pay attention to how you hold and swing the paddle during serves; improper form leads to arm pain as well as joint stiffness and soreness. With these tips in mind, you’ll be able to stay safe and enjoy pickleball for years to come.

The Most Common Pickleball Injuries

Pickleball is a popular sport that has been gaining in popularity over the last few decades for its fast-paced, low-impact nature. However, as with any sport, injuries can occur. The most common pickleball injuries are shoulder impingement syndrome, tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis), and ACL tears.

Shoulder impingement syndrome is caused by repetitive overhead motion from swinging a paddle and occurs when the rotator cuff muscles become pinched between the head of the humerus and the acromion process of the scapula. Tennis elbow happens due to overuse of backhand strokes, causing inflammation in the tendons around the elbow joint. And an ACL tear typically occurs due to a sudden stop or start with a pivot, causing instability in the knee.

At Bodyworx Physical Therapy and Concussion Center, we know how important recovery and prevention are for pickleball injuries. We can work with you to improve shoulder mobility and rotator cuff strength, as well as help decreases pain in the elbow joint and strengthen the muscles around it. We want you to enjoy what you are doing on the court and not have to worry about a nagging injury keeping you from playing.
